Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1: Cusco – Capuliyoc – Chiquisca – Marampata
Early morning drive from Cusco to Capuliyoc. Begin the trek with stunning views of the Apurimac Canyon. Descend to Chiquisca for lunch, then climb up to Marampata, where we camp with a beautiful view of the Choquequirao ruins.

Day 2: Marampata – Choquequirao – Marampata
After breakfast, we hike to the Choquequirao archaeological site. Explore the Inca terraces, temples, and ceremonial areas with plenty of time for photos and learning. Return to Marampata for overnight camp.

Day 3: Marampata – Chiquisca – Capuliyoc – Cusco
Early descent to Chiquisca, followed by the last uphill section to Capuliyoc. Lunch with canyon views, then private transport back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.

Day 1: Cusco – Capuliyoc – Chiquisca – Marampata

We begin your Choquequirao adventure with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at around 4:30 a.m. We drive for about 4 hours through beautiful Andean landscapes until we reach the trailhead at Capuliyoc (2,850m / 9,350ft). From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Apurimac Canyon and the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

Our Choquequirao trek starts with a gradual descent for about 3 to 4 hours to Chiquisca, where we stop for a delicious lunch. After lunch, we continue our hike, crossing the Apurimac River at Playa Rosalinas, and begin a challenging uphill climb for 3 to 4 hours to reach Marampata (2,950m / 9,678ft). This is our campsite for the night, offering spectacular sunset views and a peaceful atmosphere above the canyon

Day 2: Marampata – Choquequirao – Marampata

After an early breakfast, we set out on a 1.5-hour hike to reach the mysterious Choquequirao ruins (3,050m / 10,006ft). Often referred to as the «sister city of Machu Picchu,» Choquequirao is an impressive and less-visited Inca site surrounded by cloud forest and towering mountains.

You’ll enjoy a private guided tour of the site, visiting ceremonial plazas, intricate Inca terraces, temples, and the famous llama carvings on the lower terraces. We’ll have plenty of time to explore, take photos, and soak in the energy of this incredible place before returning to Marampata in the afternoon.

After dinner, enjoy your last night camping in the Andes, with breathtaking views and the serenity of the mountains.

Day 3: Marampata – Chiquisca – Capuliyoc – Cusco

On our final day, we wake early and begin our descent to Chiquisca, retracing our steps through the canyon. After a short rest, we continue the final uphill section back to Capuliyoc, where our private transport will be waiting.

We enjoy a celebratory lunch with views of the Apurimac Valley, then drive back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 6:00 p.m., ending your unforgettable Choquequirao trek.

As a Direct Local Tour Operator, we provide you with a duffel bag during the briefing and include a horse to carry up to 6 kg (13 lbs). By Peruvian law, the weight is limited to protect the animals. In your 6 kg, please account for 2 kg for sleeping bag and 1 kg for sleeping pad, leaving around 3 kg for clothing and personal items.
